Karatunga Safari Camp
Karatunga Safari Camp is one of the spacious accommodation safari established to serve visitors on their safari to the unmatched Africa wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park. Kidepo National Park was gazette as national park in 1958, covering an area of about 1,442 square kilometers in the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda in Kaabong district. The park estimates about 520 kilometers from northeast of Kampala Uganda’s capital city. Kidepo Valley National Park is a great home to diversity of wildlife species over 86 mammals and around 500 bird species which are best spotted in two stunning places that is Narus valley and Kidepo Valley, animals to be explored include; spotted hyena, cheetah ,leopard, wild dog ,elephants , Oribis ,Side-backed Jackal ,Eland , giraffe ,zebra ,African buffalo ,Rothschild’s giraffe ,African buffalo among others . The park is also a paradise of bird species, some of species to see include; Yellow-billed shrike, Crimson-rumped Waxbill, Black-breasted barbet, Broad-tailed warbler, Egyptian vulture, Pygmy falcon, Ostriches among more. The camp sits in the heart of the Karamoja region at the slopes of impressive Mount Moroto which raises around 3,085 meters. However, the camp offers perfect and blends of beautiful traditional custom and local materials with a modern touch thus providing an excellent life experience of heritage, comfort and friendly during a visit on Uganda famous destination. More then, the purpose of its existence were based on serving fantastic safari adventure through northeast Uganda Safari Adventure.
The camp comprises of six comfortable en-suite safari rooms positioned underneath the large indigenous trees, seven beautifully safari tents and four guest rooms.
Each tents were designed with spectacular private verandah, solar heated shower, electricity to charge the equipment’s, flushing toilets and washing basin.
The costs about accommodation ranges between USD50 to USD80.
Karatunga Safari Camp consists of; The double tents with one long king size bed and Twin tents designed with long single beds.

Game drive in the Kidepo Valley National Park
You will go explore around Kidepo National Park on game drive experience which is best done in the Kidepo valley or Narus valley which have water sources most remarkable during dry season. During dry seasons lots of wildlife come to feed on the green vegetation in the valley as well as quenching their thirst and bodies. While adventuring through the park, expect to explore lions, bat-eared fox, leopard, giraffe, elephants, large herds of buffaloes, zebras, striped hyena, aardwolf, lesser kudu, Chandlers Mountain reedbucks, Klipspringer, dik-dik and bright gazelle, Beisa Oryx and roan antelope many more.
Karimajong Village Visit
At your visit to Karatunga Safari Camp you will enjoy a perfect life style while on safari to Uganda’s Kidepo Valley National park. From lodge you can go visit to the Karimajong village where you can be able to learn about the life of these unique people who are known as pastoralists. You will get to learn about their amazing culture and see how they spend their day long. The Karimajong are the dominant tribe of North Eastern Uganda and some lived in Kidepo Valley before turning into a conservation area. These are the people who were forced to leave the protected area -Kidepo National Park in decades but a few homesteads still exist in the park. Along your visit, you can feel touched and support the community by buying their local handicrafts, donate them clothes or scholastic materials like books to school children of the community.
Game drive in Pian Upe
You can decide to go visit Pian upe also safari places within the regions, where you can be able to engage in Game drive and expect to adventure a wide range of animals around the reserve. Animals like waterbucks, porcupines, rock hyrax, aardvark, hedgehogs, hares, primates like olive baboons, patas monkeys, vervet monkeys as well as a home to reptiles like rock pythons, puff adders, water snakes, skinks, geckos, chameleons, monitor lizards among others.
