Accommodations in Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park known as true Africa’s wilderness Park- located in the remote North Eastern Uganda bordering Kenya and South Sudan. It boasts of its magnificent safari accommodations and has fewer accommodation options compared to the other large parks in Uganda. In the center of this stunning national park, you’ll find Apoka lodge and Apoka Rest Camp. Just outside the park, there are the Nga’Moru Wilderness Camp and Kidepo Savannah Lodge. For those who want to really connect with nature, there area also several campsites within the park, allowing tourists to camp under the breathtaking starry sky of Kidepo’s Savannah. You can choose from a range of places to stay. The lodges and hotels are divided into three categories like elsewhere – Budget, mid-range and Luxury options. Kidepo national park offers guests a wide range of accommodation options ranging from High-end, luxury, and mid-range to low budget. One’s travel budget and interest determines the choice of accommodation to include in your safari package to the park. Safari lodges in Kidepo valley national park are built and designed with both local and traditional materials to blend with the natural environment of the park. Some of these accommodations are constructed inside the park overlooking the wilderness and others outside the park gates. Depending on your choice of a safari lodge, these lodges provide different comfort and moderate amenities to guests, some of these accommodations to mention but a few include;
Apoka Safari Lodge
Apoka Safari Lodge is a luxury lodge located in heart of Kidepo Valley National Park. the lodge offers visitors with the stunning view of the Narus river from a distance. The accommodation is thoughtfully constructed using local materials and are designed for comfort, featuring spacious beds, plush carpets, soft towels, cozy duvet, swimming pools and not forgetting the wonderful experienced workers. Each room is adorned with local artwork, creating a sense of connection to the natural surroundings.
Nga’Moru Wilderness Camp
Nga’Moru Wilderness Camp is situated in Kidepo Valley in the northern part of the park overlooking the famous Narus valley well-known for its high concentration of wildlife. The camp is known as the place of rocks, provides a range of comfortable accommodations, including both mid-range and budget-friendly safari tents, all while ensuring excellent quality. The rooms are both large and clean and include ensuite bathrooms. The camp boast stunning views of Narus Valley, where visitors can watch animals as they gather around the river for a drink. In the evenings, a campfire is lit, creating a cozy atmosphere for guest to come together and enjoy the beauty of African night. Additionally, there are laundry services available, manicured garden, a bar, restaurant and ample parking space for guest convenience. Children pay half the price of adults.
Kidepo Savannah lodge
Kidepo Savannah Lodge offers a variety of accommodations, including luxury and budget-friendly tents, all located close to the Kalokudo gate of the national park. The luxury tents come with all the amenities you need and provide stunning views of one of the Africa’s last great wild areas. The lodge features 8 specious tents, each designed for comfort and relaxation. With large verandas, these tents provide breathtaking vies of the beautiful park rights outside. Inside the tent, it consists of single and double beds that are softly furnished to provide comfort. The lighting fixtures allow for a natural and warm atmosphere within each tent to create a peaceful and harmonious blend with the surrounding environment. Each luxury safari tent also includes a private ensuite bathroom, complete with hot and cold showers, running water for the sinks, and a flushing toilet, ensuring convenience and comfort during your stay.
For those travelling on a budget, Kidepo Savannah Lodge offers 9 non-self-contained tents. These are comfortably furnished with 2 single or 1 double bed, a bedside table and a power outlet for charging your electrical equipment. With outside bath rooms and toilets.
From the lodge, guest is treated to views of the beautiful hills that mark the border with South Sudan as well as the Morungole Mountains and Narus valley, all visible right from their tent or lodge area. Visitors here also have the opportunity to meet the local Ik people and Karamojong community, should they wish to arrange a visit.
Dinning is convenient at the lodge, with food and cold drinks available at the bar and restaurant. Guest can also request laundry services as needed. The lodge hires out cars, has a large parking space with a security personnel.
Apoka Rest Camps
Apoka Rest Camps are a great place for travelers looking for affordable accommodation. The camps are situated in the middle of the park not far away from the upmarket Apoka Safari Lodge. Since its run by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, you can enjoy a stay here at a lower price.
The camp features a total of 14 bandas and 16 chalets, of which some are self-contained with comfortable bedding, nets and bath rooms. Whereas others have enough space for bedding but lacks the bath rooms, the bath rooms are outside. If you choose to stay in the Bandas, keep in minds that they offer basic facilities, perfect for those on a budget. it’s a good idea to bring your own food and drinks if you plan to stay in the Bandas. However, if you’re staying for a longer time, the staff can help arrange meals for you. For those who prefer to camp, you can either bring your own tent or rent one from the staff for a fee. This makes Apoka Rest Camp a flexible option for various types of visitors.
