Attractions in Mbarara District: Mbarara City is a city in the Western Region of Uganda and the second largest city in Uganda after Kampala. It is the heart of commercial activities for south western districts of Uganda and the site of economic prospects. In May 2019, the Uganda’s cabinet granted Mbarara a city status, which started on 1 July 2020.
Mbarara is ethnically diverse and the dominant tribes are The Banyankole are the main tribe in the city. The main economic activity of the Ankole is cattle keeping and agriculture.The town is known for its crafts, including wood carving, pottery making, and weaving.

Sanga Cultural Village: If you are still interested in more cultural experiences after visiting the Igongo Cultural Centre, this is probably the next best place to go. This Centre showcases the cultural heritage of the Bahima (a subset of the Ankole tribe). It is built close to the junction going to Lake Mburo National Park.
The Igongo Cultural Centre: This Centre was built in 2011 along the Mbarara to Masaka road. It is built on the grounds which held the former palace of the King of Ankole. The Centre is one of the leading cultural sites in Uganda.
Lake Mburo National Park: Lake Mburo National park is located only thirty minutes away from Mbarara by road. It was once part of Mbarara city but with the creation of new districts, the park now falls under Kiruhura district. Lake Mburo National Park one of the smallest national parks in Uganda but with amazing activities in store for those who visit it. It is the best place to see Zebras while on a safari in Uganda.

Water safari on lake Mburo on lake Mubro this was a great habitat for many many hippos and crocodiles and the rare African fin foot. Though these species are rare this place is an attraction for tourists from with in and outside Mbarara.
Rwonyo Rest Camp,Rwonyo is the center for tourism activities in the park. It is the starting point for nature hikes, quad biking, game drives and forest walks. There is also a small shop selling handcrafts and books many people visit this place when ever they visit Mbarara and Lake Mburo National park.
