Activities to do at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary 2024 : The Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which is located in Nakasongola district offers a range of activities for visitors to engage in during their tours in Uganda.
Rhinos in Uganda are the key attraction found at the Zziwa rhino sanctuary and they can be seen as they roam in their natural habitat. The sanctuary is also the only place in the country where the rhinos can be seen during wildlife tours.

The search for the rhinos in Zziwa rhino sanctuary starts with a briefing by the rangers before walking into the wilderness to begin the rhino tracking experience. During the briefing, tourists are told about the rules and regulations to follow during the activity and also safety precautions are communicated.
Tourists can also be provided with the right shoes for the rhino tracking experience in Zziwa rhino sanctuary. The walks take place along different the trails at the sanctuary as tourists look out for the rhinos in the wild.
When the rhinos are found in their natural habitat, tourists can watch them safely and record videos and photos of the rhinos at Zziwa rhino sanctuary. The type of rhinos which are found at the sanctuary are white rhinos.
The duration of the rhino trekking experience takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on the location of the rhinos. The rhino trekking activity can be done from 07:00 am to 05:00 pm during tours around the Zziwa rhino sanctuary.

The search for the Shoebill at the Zziwa rhino sanctuary starts as early as 06:00 am and also involves a canoe ride to the wetlands. The wetlands where the Shoebill can be seen at the rhino sanctuary is called the Lugogo wetlands and the duration for the Shoebill experience is about 4 hours.
Birds of Zziwa rhino sanctuary include Gray crowned cranes, African Fish eagles, African Jacana, Pied Kingfisher, African Grey Hornbill, Marabou Stork, Crested Francolin, Black Cuckoo, Black-headed Heron, Goliath Heron, Grassland Pipit, Great Egret, Great Reed Warbler, Black-bellied bustard, Black-crowned Waxbill, Black-shouldered Kite, African Broadbill, African Fish Eagle, Little Swift, Long crested Eagle, Purple Heron, Dusky Tit, Black-winged Bishop, Blue-cheeked bee-eater among others.

Birding tours around the Zziwa rhino sanctuary cost 20 USD for adults and children are charged a fee of 10 USD for the bird watching activity.
Night nature walks around the Zziwa rhino sanctuary cost 20 USD for adults and 10 USD for children.
