Hiking/ Mountain climbing

Hiking is an adventurous and one of the major activities. During mountain climbing, you will follow different trails like the Sasa trail which is the shortest but most challenging trail that takes about four day round trip passing through Mudangi cliffs, community gardens and bamboo forest. Sipi trail which takes about 4 to 6 days round trip passing through Tatum cave which is known for its ancient cave painting and Piswa trail which takes about 7 days round trip and offers stunning views of Karamoja plains, hot springs and Kenya’s Kapeguria and Nandi hills. Mount Elgon national park also offers day hikes for less experienced hikers which take about 3-7 km and give travelers an opportunity to enjoy views of the beautiful scenery and different wildlife species.

Mountain biking

Mountain biking is an exciting activity in Mount Elgon national park that visitors can engage in during the safari. Mountain biking trails in the park were opened up by Uganda Wildlife Authority in 2012 and the trails run from Sipi trading Centre to Chema hill in Kapchorwa town. During mountain biking which takes about one to two hours, you will enjoy great views of the Karamoja plains, Sipi falls, beautiful scenery, farmlands, rocks, Soroti plains among others.
