Where to see leopards in Uganda; Leopards are carnivorous animals that are found in various national parks in Uganda. leopards are most secretive and elusive animals that spend most of the days hiding in trees. They are also solitary in that it’s rare to see them in pairs unless they are mating compared to lions which live in prides. Leopards are nocturnal animals which become active at night and this makes it hard to spot them during the day game drives as they are fast, secretive and light footed when it comes to hunting as they can take down prey that is bigger in size and also spots on their skin helps them to camouflage.
Leopards can adapt and survive in any environment savannah, rainforest, mountains etc and they are good swimmers in that they can hunt fish in water and animals that will be feeding along the shores. Conception period of leopards can take about 90 to 100 days after mating and a female leopard gives birth to up to 4 cubs. After giving birth, the mother will raise her cubs in a protected area from lions for about 1 to 2 years and during this period the cubs will be able to learn how to hunt on their own. Queen Elizabeth national park
Queen Elizabeth national park is located in western part of Uganda and its one of the national parks where visitors will be able to spot the leopards. Best time to see leopards in Uganda
Leopards in Queen Elizabeth national park, Kidepo valley national park, lake Mburo national park and Murchison falls national park can be seen all year round though the best time is during the dry season in the months of June to September and December to February because during this period there is less or little rainfall in the national parks therefore vegetation will be short which allows you to view the leopards clearly and also game drive tracks will be dry and passable hence making game drives easy.
