10 Days Karamoja Cultural Tour & Wildlife Safari takes you to the savannah parks in Uganda that is Kidepo national park, Pian Upe wildlife reserve, and Murchison falls national park. You will also visit the most interesting tribes in the Karamojong region including the IK, the Dodoth, Jie and the largest nomadic pastoralists in Africa.  Sipi falls is located on the foothills of Mount Elgon, Pian Upe wildlife reserve which is one of Uganda’s newly recognised tourist destinations with raw and beautiful scenery joined to other two wildlife protected areas in the North-eastern part of Uganda, Kidepo national park which is the most remote national park rich in wildlife experience as compared to any other national park in Uganda. Murchison falls national park is a home of the most powerful and strongest falls in Africa. The best time to visit Karamoja region is during the dry months of January, February, March and December. You can as well visit in the wet months of April to May but the path ways are usually difficult to use given bad road conditions. Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Sipi falls

Depending on your location in Kampala/Entebbe, you will meet our safari guide for the whole trip to embark on your morning drive to Kapchorwa district. Transfer to Sipi falls in the Eastern region of Uganda on the foothills of Mountain Elgon with en-route lunch. Sipi falls are located in Kapchowra district. These falls comprise of 3 waterfalls with the highest fall dropping at 100m, second highest at 80m and third highest at 70m. Upon arrival in Kapchowra in rolling hills of the area in the evening, proceed to check-in your hotel/lodge close to the falls and with great views of the hills for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2: Transfer to MorotoExperience the life in a Karamojong village

After breakfast and transfer to Moroto district which is about 5hours drive from Sipi falls. After lunch connect to experience the Karamong culture by visiting one of the Karamojong communities. You will participate in traditional games, daily activities as preparing staples foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dance, traditional friendly wrestling and know how to shoot using a bow and arrow. These activities can be done for a whole day. Return for dinner and overnight stay at Mount Moroto Hotel/Kara-Tunga Safari Camp

Day 3: Game drive in Pian Upe – Kotido

After your breakfast, drive to Pian Upe wildlife reserve for a game drive in the savannah plains to search for reserve residents including the cheetahs, Uganda’s only population of the Roan antelopes, the Elands, Zebras, Hartebeests, Oribis, Gunther’s Dik Dik, Uganda Kobs, Buffaloes, blue and Common Duiker and Impalas to mention a few with en-route lunch. Later afternoon, connect to Kotido where you will visit the traditional cattle market where people can to buy and sell cattle which usually happens on a Wednesday and other traditional practises of the Jie people of Karamonja. Day 4: Transfer to Kidepo national park 

After breakfast, you will meet at your safari guide and transfer to Kidepo Valley national park located in the Karamojong region (Kaboong district), it is a 4-5 hours’ drive. Arrive in Kidepo at good time for lunch which will be served at your booked lodge. Enjoy and evening game drive in the Narus valley.  Dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Morning game drive – Narus valley and Kidepo valley

Wake up early and connect for a morning game drive in Narus valley. As you enjoy your game drive, bush breakfast will be served, and return for more adventure in the savannah plains of Kidepo national park on your morning game drive in Narus valley. This area is famous for finding the big 4 game including the lions, elephants, leopards and buffaloes. If you are lucky, you will spot the Cheetahs and hyenas as well. Other animals to be found include the kobs, Oribi, Zebras, the giraffes to mention a few. 

After lunch, connect for yet another game drive in the Kidepo valley. This area is further from Narus valley and it is where you will find the Ostrich birds and other animals. This area is closer to South Sudan border to Uganda. You will also visit the hot springs of Kanangorok before you return to your lodge. Spend the rest the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above

Day 6: Climb Mount Morungole to visit the IK tribe (4hrs up, 2hrs down)

After breakfast, drive to the starting point of Mount Morungole located in the absolute northern hills of Karamoja. Here is where we find the smallest tribe of Uganda called the IK. The IK people lived in nowdays Kidepo national park but were misplaced when the area was gazetted as a national park. The IK now live on Mount Morungole ridges as a community. Visiting the IK people gives visitors a rare insight into the unique tribe/culture in Africa. You will also enjoy the beautiful scenery, the higher the climb takes you, the more breath-taking the scenes in the valleys below and into the Eastern rift valley of Kenya and over to southern Sudan. Day 7: Transfer to Murchison falls national park 

After breakfast, check-out of the lodge and connect to Murchison falls national park. It’s a 6-7 hours’ drive with en-route lunch in Gulu town. Murchison falls national park – Uganda’s largest savannah national park and home to the most powerful falls in Africa. Proceed to check-in your booked accommodation for relaxation. Later evening connect for an evening game drive to find some of the famous animals found in the park such as the lions, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes to mention a few. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at

Day 8: Morning game drive and boat cruise 

After breakfast, connect to the delta area for your early morning game drive for chances of seeing the early risers and other animals. This will take 2-3 hours depending on the availability of the animals. Return for lunch at your lodge then connect for your afternoon boat cruise on the Nile. This is yet another exciting activity to enjoy while in Murchison falls national park. There are both land and water animals to encounter on this boat cruise that ends with view of the falls at the bottom. Encounter animals like the hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and also different bird species. This boat trip takes about 2-3 hours. Return to relax at your lodge as above.

Day 9: Top of the falls visit and Ziwa Rhino tracking

After breakfast, connect to the top of the Murchison falls. The falls are spectacularly interesting to view at different viewpoints; you will take 2 hours at the top before you embark on your journey Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary with en-route lunch. Upon arrival, connect for your rhino tracking experience and visit the only existing rhinos. After tracking, transfer to your booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay at Amuka Safari lodge for luxury/Mid-range, Ziwa Guesthouse for budget

Day 10: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe

Have breakfast and embark on your journey to Kampala/Entebbe. It’s a 4-5 hours’ drive with en-route lunch in Kampala. You will be dropped at a location you will advise in Kampala/Entebbe or at Entebbe international airport
