10 Days Kidepo National Park – Eastern Route
This 10 days kidepo national parks eastern route starts from Kampala to jinja and to sipi falls , kidepo valley national park and murchison falls national parjs for a awildlife experience before heading to Kampala as the final stop.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Jinja
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport in the morning hours/depending on your location in Kampala, meet our company representative/driver guide and transfer to Jinja. Taking the Eastern route via Mabira forest – Uganda largest rainforest, Lugazi sugar plantations and other interesting places as you will observe on the road. It’s a 3 hours’ drive from Kampala with en route sceneries. Arrive Jinja at good time for lunch at your hotel, check-in and later afternoon, explore a bit of the town or stay at your lodge and relax. Day 2: Half day rafting and Source of the Nile visit
After morning breakfast, drive to the starting point for your white water rafting experience. You will be briefed about the activity then proceed to the rafting spot where you will be given gears and instructions, this usually starts at 9 am. Enjoy your half day amazing fun along the longest Nile in Africa. Retreat from the activity and have lunch at our hotel.
Later afternoon, connect to the source of the Nile and boat cruise to the source of the Nile/Lake Victoria. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel as above
Day 3: Transfer to Sipi fall – Mount Elgon
After breakfast, meet your drive and embark on your journey to Kapchowura district close to Mount Elgon. The area is mountainous with good scenery. It’s a 4 hours’ drive with en route lunch in Mbale town before you proceed to Kapchowura district – home to Sipi Falls. Arrive and proceed to check-in your lodge to rest. Dinner and overnight stay at Sipi River lodge
Day 4: Full day Sipi falls
After your early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the Sipi falls offices where you will get a guide for the Sipi falls hike. Sipi falls has 3 falls at Mount Elgon foothills that stretch to 85m, 75m and 100m accordingly. Depending on your fitness, you may visit all the 3 falls or choose to visit 2 falls. In the evening drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Sipi River lodge as above
Day 5: Full day drive to Kidepo Valley national park
Very early after breakfast, depart for Kidepo via Moroto. It’s a full day drive with lunch en route. Dinner and overnight stay at Apoka Safari lodge/Kidepo Savannah lodge/Nga Moru wilderness Camp
Day 6: Game drive in Narus valley & community tour
Breakfast will be served early and drive to Narus valley for a morning game drive. Narus valley is known to possess the largest buffalo herds than anywhere else in the entire world. There are also high chances of spotting big cats on a hunt and on a lucky day; you may spot the rare cheetahs too which are endemic to Kidepo in the whole of Uganda. Head back to the lodge for lunch and embark on an evening game drive in the Narus valley again. Dinner and overnight stay at Lodge as above
Day 7: Game drive and Hot springs visit in Kidepo Valley
Enjoy breakfast and drive to Kidepo valley for another game drive close to South Sudan. This area is best known for viewing the Ostriches and other wild cats including the cheater and not forgetting the hot springs. The park has great observation points with binoculars and you will be happy to use them and you can never have enough of a game drive in this park! Return later afternoon to unwind and rest at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at lodge as above.
Day 8: Drive to Murchison falls – Full day drive
Depart from Kidepo very early after your breakfast and begin your journey to Murchison falls national park that is far North Western part of Uganda, you will have several stopovers if necessary for lunch and stretching in Gulu town. Arrive Murchison late evening and connect to check-in your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay Pakuba Safari lodge/Paraa Safari lodge/Heritage Safari lodge
Day 9: Delta game drive and Boat cruise at the bottom of the falls
Early morning after breakfast at your lodge, embark on a morning game drive in the northern part of the park to the delta. This is where you may spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, hyenas, cape buffaloes, leopards (on a lucky day), and different species of antelopes including the Uganda Kobs, Jackson hartebeest, Oribi, waterbucks among others. After the game drive, return to your lodge to refresh and have lunch.
In the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise to see the magnificent falls along River Nile. Cruising along the bottom of the falls will expose you to the park’s streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, different bird species and large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe. After viewing the falls, return to the landing site and meet your driver and return to your lodge as above, meals on full board.
Day 10: Rhino trekking and return to Kampala
After breakfast, drive out of the park to connect to Ziwa Sanctuary for Rhino trekking. Lunch will be served depending on where you will. You will be dropped off a place you will advise or proceed to Entebbe airport for your onward flight back home. This is a 4-5 hours’ drive to Kampala. End of the tour
