During the 2 days chimpanzee trekking tour you will engage in an interesting nature walk in Bigodi swamp and chimpanzee trekking activity which gives you an opportunity to spend one hour with the chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park, depending on your location on the first day of the 2 days chimpanzee trekking tour our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel to start the journey to Kibale forest national park which is located in western Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours drive and on the way you will enjoy spectacular views of the countryside, beautiful landscape, tea and banana plantations, crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain ranges among others. You will have lunch in Fort Portal and then proceed to Kibale national park for an afternoon nature walk in Bigodi swamp. During the swamp walk you will be able to view primate species like black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, l’hoest monkeys, view different bird species like the great blue turaco, mammals like sitatunga, bush pigs, colorful butterflies among others. After the swamp walk you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and departure to Kampala
Chimpanzee trekking, on the last day of the 2 days chimpanzee trekking tour you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. after the briefing you will be put in a group of not more than 6 people, allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and an experienced park guide who is well conversant with trails in the forest. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will have great veiews of other primates like blue monkeys, olive baboons, grey cheeked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, mammals like forest elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, different bird species among others. Once the chimpanzee family is located you will be allowed to spend one hour with the chimpanzees in their environment which helps you to learn about their behaviors, watch them feed, play, fight, hunt, rest, mate, take photos and record the moments with a flash less camera. After the face to face encounter with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala where you will arrive early evening. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe airport for your departure flights or dropped off at the hotel in Kampala depending on your schedule.
