Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park, depending on your location on the first day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking tour our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel or Entebbe airport, brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park which takes about 8 to 9 hours drive. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator to take photos, buy souvenirs and then proceed with another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey which will be filled with spectacular views of the countryside, beautiful landscapes, Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands, plantations among others. Upon arrival in Bwindi impenetrable national park you will check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
Gorilla trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking tour you will carry packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be allocated a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the jungle and a gorilla family to trek, gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park is strenuous therefore allocation of gorilla families is done according to age, physical fitness and personal preferences. Gorilla trekking takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the mountain gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primates like L’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, baboons, mammals like forest elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, different bird species, plant and tree species among others. Once the gorilla family is located you will be allowed to spend one hour with the individuals in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, grooming young ones, learn about their habits, behaviors, take photos and record the breathtaking moments. After the one hour encounter with the gentle giants you will trek back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure to Kampala
After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 3 days Uganda gorilla trekking tour, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch in Mbarara town and then proceed to Kampala where you will arrive early evening. Upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
